6 places to visit in Portugal

Hi there! In this post, I’m going to share with you 6 beautiful places you definitely should visit in Portugal. Take a look!

Lisbon

There is something for everyone and that’s why Lisbon is so popular. The buildings are covered in beautiful tiles. You can find great food, accommodation, and nightlife. There are many free and outdoor attractions. Lisbon has plenty of hills, which means plenty of views too! With gorgeous blue tiles and lush gardens, Miradouro de Santa Luzia is my favorite viewpoint.

Sintra

If you find yourself in Lisbon, the day trip to Sintra is one of the must-have things to do! Sintra has stunning palaces, ruins of a castle and other beautiful buildings, all located in the magnificent setting of the Serra de Sintra National Park which resulted in the classification of the town and its historic passage as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nazaré

Famous for its big waves, in Nazaré you can take beautiful photos of the surfers at the Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo that resisted the French Invasions and became a symbol of the Portuguese resilience.

Óbidos

Óbidos is about an hour from Lisbon and is one of the most beautiful villages in Portugal. The small size of the town means you can easily explore it in one single day. Óbidos is a place where you can let your imagination take you back hundreds of years. Simply walking through the village is incredible, as most of the buildings are decorated with flowers.

Porto

Porto is the country’s second largest city and is best enjoyed slowly, on foot. The Douro River is the ultimate backdrop for river cruises and sunset strolls. You can explore the Ribeira, with its colorful houses, cafes and shops full of locals alike soaking up the views of the famous Dom Luis I Bridge.

Évora

Évora, one of the most timeless cities in Portugal, is a beautiful city with a lot of historical heritage, rich in architecture, culture and more. There, you can find churches, historic squares, a temple, white little houses and narrow streets. There you can find one of the most significant landmarks relating to the Roman and Lusitanian civilizations of Évora and in Portuguese territory: the roman temple.
