Se leram o meu primeiro post, you already know that my first flight was a 8-hour flight. If you don’t, go read it now. Moving on, that’s a long time to spend just waiting for you to arrive your destination so you might as well do something, right? Let me share with you my top 10 things to do on a long flight.
Se tiverem o vosso próprio ecrã nas costas do assento da frente, como eu tive, têm horas de entretenimento garantido! Filmes, músicas, jogos, tudo que o for preciso! Lembro-me que aproveitei para assistir a um monte de filmes.
1. Fotografar as vistas
I always take the window seat! The window seat gives me the best views. For example, the photo below was shot when I was landing in Paris. That is something you can’t achieve from the aisle seat.
4. Jogar
Who doesn’t love a good game? The trick is to find the perfect game for you. My favorite is Farm Heroes Saga (level 819 haha).
5. Ouvir um podcast ou a vossa lista de reprodução favorita
I’m not a big fan of podcasts but I know some people who are completely addicted to them. That’s why you should definitely give it a try. On the other hand, I love a good old school playlist.
6. Levantar-se e circular
Your legs will thank you later. Moving your legs about every two hours is the general advice. Also, when you get up to use the bathroom, stretch every body part you can.
7. Mantenham-se hidratados
Dehydration during travel can cause headaches, dry skin, chapped lips and nose bleeds (I’m very familiar with the last one). To avoid that, drink plenty of water and pack a good moisturizer.
8. Comer
When I’m super bored, I like to eat. If you know me, you know that I’m always eating and that applies to long flights too. Packing your own snacks will make you as comfortable as possible.
What about meals? I can only talk about my Emirates experience since that’s the only long flight that I had. All Emirates flights have at least one meal service time. Passengers are given a menu with two or three options for each meal. Emirates aims to serve meals that give passengers an introduction to the place to which they are traveling so it’s really a great experience.
9. Escrever um diário
It can be your personal journal or a travel journal. Write about what you imagine it will be like, list down your itinerary or write about your trip after you leave.
10. Relaxar ou dormir uma sesta
If everything else fails, sleep.
Besides that, don’t forget to ALWAYS wear comfortable clothes. Please don’t wear skinny jeans and don’t do the same mistake that I did: wearing high heels. My feet were completely puffy and dead when I landed.
